Elliot Reid

Elliot

Note: This page is highly unfinished and does contain spoilers about Elliot's character and the show in general.

Elliot has been a core character on Scrubs since the very first episode, My First Day, and is played by Sarah Chalke. She initially starts out as an intern at Sacred Heart, and throughout the series she develops into a more confident person and doctor.

She grew up in Connecticut, living with her rich parents Simon and Lily Reid. For the most part, Elliot didn't really interact with her parents and, while they were very absent from her childhood, it seems they still had a large impact on her personality and goals. For example, the entire reason Elliot decided to become a doctor is because her father is the Chief of Medicine at a hospital in Greenwich and strives for his approval. Meanwhile, her mother is the stem of Elliot's insecurities and much of her strangeness is a development from something her mother has told her. For example, it's the influence from her mother that makes Elliot uncomfortable while saying clinical words for sexual parts of the human body as well as swear words. Her mother also pressures Elliot about her love life and is the entire reason Elliot is so insecure about sex in general.

Elliot attended Brown University and was part of the Omega Beta Gamma sorority before graduating and becoming an intern at Sacred Heart. Over the years she spends at the hospital she earns the title of co-chief resident and endocrinology expert (for five days), and eventually works as private practice out of Sacred Heart for double the pay and with no superiors.
